Once logged into your tournament, use the 3-line menu to select the events tab:
Use the "Add Event" option at the top to start the event setup:
The first option you see below the basic info wording is the ability to turn the event on or off. This will start as disabled and will need to be switched to active (see below) in order for players to see the event on registration and sign up.
The "Lock Public Registrations" option can be used when you want to prevent any changes being made to an event. This is often used by tournament owners when an event is full and they want to keep new players from selecting the event. The event will still show during player registration, but will appear with a red lock and will not allow the event to be selected.
If you have an events that don't end up having enough participation and you decide to combine age groups, we have an option to separate those age groups out separately for medals. We only offer this for 5 or 10 year increments. The USA National Senior event is for specific types of tournaments and should only be selected if you are running an event with the organization.
The Count Games Toward DUPR Ratings option must be toggled on if you want the results from the event to count towards players DUPR ratings once the tournament concludes. If you are planning to run an event ( such as a fun/non competitive event) you can turn this option off to encourage players to freely play without it affecting their ratings.
We offer an automatic waitlist service for your events. This option is helpful if you have an event that has hit your designated maximum and you have teams on the waitlist. If a team from the main draw was to withdraw, the waitlist service would find the next available team on the waitlist and automatically move them into the main draw and email both players.
If the event is wheelchair only, please select this option. Wheelchair events have different rules than other events.
Bracket Level indicates what level of play the event will be. All options, other than Pro Event, will charge the players a $5 service fee. If the event is a Pro level event, the service fee will be $25 per event. (Pro Event selection is required for events that offer more than $10,000 per event eligible)
Bracket Format will display on the tournament listing letting players know how you plan to run the event.
Player Groups and Format show during player registration letting the players know what event they are signing up for.
Skill section indicates what player skill level will be allowed to participate in the event. You have the option to select ratings by .5 increments starting at 2.0 all the way up to an Open category (which allows anyone of any skill level to sign up) Players are never allowed to play down in skill.
Skill rule is necessary if you want players who are lower than the indicated skill level to sign up. If you select yes, you will see the "Only 1 partner may be lower than skill" option. If this is marked as yes then at least 1 of the players must qualify for the event skill level. If you don't mark this option, anyone at the listed Skill level or below would be able to sign up for the event.
Max rating Difference allows you to limit the skill level difference who can sign up for an event. If you elect to let lower skill level players play in an event and you select a max rating difference of .5 and your event is a 4.5, then only players listed at 4.0 and above would see the event as available to register.
Age is the age range you want to be able to sign up for an event. Age rule like the skill rule allows you to add overrides. Players are never allowed to play up in age from what you have set.
When you create an event the skill/age and format setting will automatically populate (see below). If you turn on the Type a Custom Title option, you can change the name of the event to whatever you want and the event will still remain open to the same skill/age players. Event names that are in any way offensive or derogatory are not permitted.
The Sub Title section will allow you to add a secondary line if you want to add additional information about the event that is available for view to players registering. In the below case the tournament is offering prize money so they elected to input that information for player view.
Use these fields if you need to give your events specific codes. This value is not used in PickleballBrackets.com although may help relate to another system. This option is seldom used by tournaments as our software prepares and manages many different report options for you to view.
The Venue section allows you to select/confirm which venue the event will take place. If you have multiple locations and have added them under the venue tab, you will be able to select the different locations here to inform the players.
The link to parent event allows you to create a separate event but connect that to as second event. This is often used by tournament owners who have to combine multiple skills into a round robin event but then want to separate the skill levels out separately for playoffs. Linking will keep the second event attached from charging an additional event service fee.
All need a partner will let the players who are signing up for an event complete their registration without listing a partner. If this option is turned off a player MUST add a partner when signing up for an event or they will not be able to complete registration and sign up for the tournament.
Register Same event explains itself below. If you have previously select no to this option in your edit tournament basic information section, this option will allow this event only to override that selection.
Max Teams will be the maximum number of teams you allow for this event. Setting the number will then move all players to the waitlist if it is available. Max Waiting teams is the maximum number of teams the waitlist will hold. If the waitlist if full then the player will NOT be able to select this event during registration.
Limit Teammate Must Register Within sets a time limit of how long the player has to have their listed partner register. If the listed partner doesn't register within this listed time, the registered player is move to the waitlist automatically. Once the listed partner registers, if there is still an open spot in the main draw, the system will move the team back into the main draw.
IMPORTANT: Single players signed up take up a team spot. The registration time limit can help remove these players to allow full teams to take the spots.
Date of the event is when the event will take place. If you know what time you will host the event, you can include that in the Time section.
Display Time Type allows you to list the event without a time, list the time you indicated in the Time section, or designate a general time (such as morning, early morning, evening, etc.). Whatever you choose here will show on the event during player registration.
This event will take priority over other events not marked when using the Daily Planner and Simulator. This can be helpful if you want a specific event to finish before another.
If you are running the event as a round robin you will be able to indicate ahead of time if the event will have a playoff. You can mark that option here. If you select yes the system will ask you how many teams you wish to include in the playoff.
Score Format allows you to set the score format ahead of time. You can also include your estimated time the event will take, timeouts per team and what type of scoresheet you wish for the event to print.
IMPORTANT: You will be asked all of these questions again during the bracket verification. What you list here will automatically transfer to that process and save you time when verifying. You can also choose not to use what you list here during verification.
Show Seed section will include the seeds on the bracket. Keeping these turned off will not change the bracket other than it will not show the seed number.
This section will allow our software to print scoresheets automatically during your tournament as long as you have a printer connected. Print next available matches will pick any 2 teams to play a match anywhere in the bracket regardless of what round. If you prefer for the system to go round by round, select that option. (If you have open courts the next available option will keep players on court and not waiting as long)
When using the Daily Planner or Simulator, you have the option to designate an event to specific courts for projections or to use any court available. This option will allow you to choose for the event.
If using text messaging, this option will send the players a text message letting them know what court they are on when their match is placed on the court desk feature. The wording in the text is based on the selection but will always indicate what court number they will play on.
Show this event on tourney registration is required for the event to be visible and for players to sign up. If this is turned off players will not be able to sign up for the event.
Included in Reg Cost comes into play if you decide to include one or more event with the registration charge. If you are going to include at least 1 event in the registration charge, ALL EVENTS will need to be marked as yes.
Event Cost is how much in addition to your Registration amount to charge players for this event (if not included).
If the event will provide money to the winners, please mark this section yes.
If the event is required during registration you can mark this yes.
Medals Awarded will show on the main tournament listing to let players know if you are planning to provide medals or not.
Hide Players will keep the players view of your tournament listing from showing the names of those signed up, although the event will still show the number of players signed up for the event.
